Description:
Nuchal Translucency Education and Quality Monitoring Program
Nuchal Translucency (NT) measurement in association with first trimester biochemistry has been shown to be an excellent screening modality for chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Foundation (MFMF) recognizes the need for quality assurance in the area of first trimester risk assessment and presents this educational course with the Institute of Advanced Medical Education on the theories and techniques involved in obtaining accurate NT measurements. This program is designed for physician sonologists and sonographers and meets the education course requirement component of credentialing by the MFMF.

After attending the NT Credentialing course each participant will:

Understand the data underlying first trimester screening, second trimester screening and a combination of first and second trimester screening for fetal aneuploidy

Become familiar with the standardized technique for imaging and measuring the fetal nuchal translucency

Understand the importance and methods underlying quality assurance for nuchal translucency sonography

Be aware of the pitfalls and implementation difficulty in applying nuchal translucency base screening to a clinical practice

Use information acquired in this activity to achieve NT Credentialing
