Description:
The University of Toronto Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Symposium, sponsored by the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto, is celebrating its 47th annual meeting in 2017.

The object of this meeting has always been to provide a didactic, highly interactive, congenial atmosphere, where registrants are exposed to top aesthetic plastic surgeons on a global scale. The Toronto Aesthetic Meeting is the largest aesthetic plastic surgery meeting in Canada. Last year, over 200 registrants attended this program.

Dr. W.R.N. (Bill) Lindsay originally developed the concept of this symposium back in 1970. Dr. Lindsay is a pioneer in aesthetic plastic surgery, not only at the University of Toronto, but also in Canada. His original meeting was held in a small room in the basement of the Wellesley hospital in Toronto. Over the next 20 years, Dr. Lindsay and his associate, Dr. Leith Douglas ("the Maple Leaf Plastic Surgeon") organized this meeting annually. Dr. Walter Peters joined them in 1985, taking on the role of conference chair in 1990. The meeting soon outgrew the Wellesley hospital facility and moved through various hotels in Toronto. After 21 years, Dr Peters stepped down as conference chair in 2010, and Drs. Thomas Bell and Frank Lista have been conference co-chairs since 2011. In 2012, the meeting received endorsement from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and in 2013, endorsing the meeting the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS) began.

Each year, the U of T Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Symposium concentrates on specific areas of current interest, where particular advances have been made. In addition to Canadian faculty, five visiting professors have been invited to present lectures in these specific areas.

The four visiting professors are:

- Louis Bucky Philadelphia, PA
- Dan Delvecchio Boston, MA
- Joseph Hunstad Charlotte, NC
- Rod Rohrich Dallas, TX

The 2017 meeting will be held at the Omni Hotels & Resorts - The King Edward Toronto, March 31st - April 1st, 2017.

We look forward to welcoming you to Toronto this spring.

Drs. Thomas Bell and Frank Lista
