Description:
To provide quality palliative care and support to patients and families coping with serious or life-threatening illness, physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare providers need to be aware of and address the mind, body and spiritual considerations that may influence treatment decisions. This symposium will provide attendees with updates on: current strategies for optimizing medications to ensure effective pain and symptom management; developing a mindful, holistic approach to clinical practice; discussing advance directives in a meaningful way; and the role of spirituality and spiritual connection in patients living with serious illness. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a guided meditation exercise.
